phase transition
Window printing project at the Pittsburgh Glass Center, a world class hub for Glass Art to coincide with the final stage of a large expansion of the organization. The work is a permanent commission on the glass facade of the patio on the first floor situated on the connection between the old building and the new expansion. The installation is inspired by the contrast between the old and the new, the glass melting furnaces and the large ventilators evacuating heat.
On site printing from early April to the end of May 2024
Source material: illustrations of the molecular structure of glass in its different stages and a 17th century etching depicting wind and fire .
Technique: vertical screen printing with acrylic ink and special interference pigments that show different colors depending on the light situation and whether seen from the inside or the outside
