artist statement
Screen printing an image directly on a wall or on a window is something magical. Nothing can be more ephemeral than a thin layer of ink on a window; nothing feels more eternal than the same ink absorbed by a wall, immediately evoking fresco paintings. There is no intermediary layer. This directness inseparably links the work to the space and to the specific moment in time. And performing this act in public is something magical too. I cannot hide. The world is there, around me. It exists without me. It interacts with whatever I come up with. It doesn’t need me. I have to impose myself. I have to find a necessity. And this is the ultimate challenge time and time again.
