Verzeichnis der hausarbeiter

Wall printing project and interventions on museum vitrines at the ‘Geigenbaumuseum Mittenwald’, a museum dedicated to the long history of violinmaking in the small Bavarian town of Mittenwald. The project deals with the tension between traditional craft and the industrial division of labour with a particular focus on the often overlooked ‘Hausarbeiter’, the home workers, or outworkers, who assembled large numbers of violins throughout the 19th century. Their work was at the basis of a flourishing violin trade which made Mittenwald renowned all over the world.
The project also explores the complex relationship between artmaking and craft in my own artistic practice.
After an extensive working period of two months starting mid May, with numerous talks, discussions, workshops on site and at the local elementary school in the frame of @dasmobileatelier the show has now officially opened.

On view from July 13th to November 9th 2025 at the Ballenhausgasse 5 at Mittenwald, Germany
